NHL Rumors: Bruins Unlikely To Buyout Veteran Forward

Although there have been rumblings about the Boston Bruins could buy out Nick Foligno, that is very unlikely to occur. According to Joe Haggerty, the team isn't considering buyouts for the 2022 offseason.

Foligno's first season as a Bruin was underwhelming, so it makes sense that many wondered about his future with the organization. In 64 games, he had two goals to go along with 11 helpers and a minus-13 rating. He was clearing dealing with injury trouble throughout the season as well. Perhaps an offseason of rest could help the 34-year-old put together a bounce-back campaign in 2022-23.

Although Foligno carries a $3.8 million cap hit, his contract will expire after next season. Perhaps the latter is also why GM Don Sweeney is leaning toward keeping the veteran around, as his contract will not be on the books for much longer.
