NHL Rumors: Flyers Could Trade Veteran Forward

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Philadelphia Flyers could try to trade James van Riemsdyk this offseason. This would be solely to move on from his $7 million cap hit.

van Riemsdyk is entering the final year of his contract, so there could be teams willing to bring him in. However, the Flyers would likely need to add a sweetener in any potential trade. Although JVR can still provide solid secondary scoring, his cap hit is just too high.

In 82 games this season, JVR scored 24 goals and recorded 38 points. We will have to wait and see if this is enough for another team to target him this offseason.
