NHL Rumors: Kane Hints At Staying With Oilers

There has been a ton of talk since Evander Kane joined the Edmonton Oilers about if they will be able to re-sign him, if he wants to stay, or if he will test free agency and cash in after a stellar season. Kane may have given us a hint. He said "this has got to be the best organization I've played for."

For a player that has been through as much as Kane has in his career, a place where he is liked and respected by teammates and management goes a long way. The Oilers wouldn't have been able to get as far as they did without Kane, as he signed with the team when they were desperate.

Kane finished the 2021-22 season with the Oilers having scored 35 goals and 56 points in 58 games across the regular season and playoffs. He recorded three hat tricks and provided a ton of physicality that the Oilers haven't been able to find in a star player.

Both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl called Kane before he made a decision to join the Oilers and offered a warm welcome, and when asked about Kane after the season Draisaitl stated, "we'd love to have him back."

It will be tough to pull off as Kane would have to help the Oilers out by taking a little less money since Ken Holland also has to sign three RFA forwards and fill other holes in the lineup. Kane more than proved himself this past season and also showed his off-ice antics are in the past while showing a will to win. I'm sure if the Oilers' leadership wants Kane back and he wants to return, something will have to happen to make it so.
