NHL Rumors: Panthers To Trade Veteran Forward

The Florida Panthers are likely to trade Patric Hornqvist to free up cap space, according to Frank Seravalli.

Hornqvist is heading into the final season of his contract but carries a rather sizeable $5.3 million cap hit. Due to the Panthers' immense forward depth, the veteran winger played fourth-line minutes several times throughout the season. That is far too much money for a player that low on their depth chart.

Hornqvist is still an effective player, however, as he recorded 28 points in 65 games. There could be a market for his services around the league due to his physical style of play, but he also has an eight-team no-trade list. Alas, let's see if the 35-year-old has a new home for the 2022-23 season.
