Avalanche Re-Sign Defenseman

The Avalanche have re-signed Jacob MacDonald to a one-year, two-way contract extension. At the NHL level, he will carry a $762,500 cap hit.

Although the Avalanche have several bigger-name players to re-sign, it certainly isn't bad that MacDonald is staying put. He's been an excellent offensive defenseman for the Colorado Eagles, and this year showed that perfectly. In 33 games, he scored a notable 10 goals and recorded 25 points. With that, he played eight games for the Avalanche but failed to record a point.

Although MacDonald will likely spend more time in the AHL than NHL this year, he is still a good depth option when called upon. Let's see how he performs in 2022-23.
