Kraken Acquire Talented Forward in Trade

The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded forward Oliver Bjorkstrand to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for a 2023 third-round pick and a 2023 fourth-round pick.

This is the salary cap move to get compliant after the signings of Gaudreau and Laine.

The Kraken will gladly take Bjorkstrand at that cost, however, as the twenty-seven-year-old has put up a very solid 234 points in 382 career games. This past season, Bjorkstrand played 80 games for Columbus, scoring 28 goals and 29 assists.

Bjorkstrand comes with a cap hit of $5,400,00. He is signed through the 2025-26 season, after which he will be an unrestricted free agent.

The Kraken now have a projected cap space of $3,810,333.

The Blue Jackets now have a projected cap space of $3,054,167.
