NHL Rumors: 3 Free-Agents Targets for Detroit Red Wings

Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman is one of the smartest executives in the league. The team has rebuilt themselves nicely through the draft and now look to pounce on some talent on the free-agent market. Here's three players who could end up in Motown:

Nazem Kadri

Depending just how much Nazem Kadri wants to be paid, the Red Wings are going to be a serious candidate. Yzerman would love to add Kadri's nasty side and his ability to be a factor all over the ice. He's coming off a career season and a Stanley Cup ring so the winning experience is something Detroit would like to add more of this summer. Kadri's hometown also isn't too far away from Motown, so this move could make sense for multiple reasons.

Ryan Strome

Someone a little cheaper than Kadri, Ryan Strome is on the Red Wings radar. The could easily plug and play him at the 2C position and he's capable of playing first line power-play minutes. He's smart, offensively gifted, however has been knocked for his defensive play and missing open nets. Look for Strome to end up in Detroit or Seattle this summer.

Andrew Copp

The Red Wings need some more size and skill and Copp checks off both boxes with ease. Last season he was a force after the move to the New York Rangers, showing he can insert himself into a new lineup and contribute. Music to the ears of Yzerman as he's likely going to offer Copp a multi-year contract and look for a deal to be completed on Wednesday.
