NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots for Evan Rodrigues

The Pittsburgh Penguins have some big orders of business to complete this summer, including the potential of bringing back forward Evan Rodrigues. The versatile E-Rod had himself a career season in Pittsburgh last season and it makes sense for the player to wait to see what the open market has to offer as he attempts to cash in this offseason. Three teams who have Rodrigues on their radar:

New Jersey Devils

The Devils want scoring wingers with versatility and Rodrigues could fit the bill in Jersey. He produced 43 points in 82 games last season, splitting time down the middle and on the wing. He's a work horse who gets by on work ethic and out hustling the other team. The Devils are a young squad who could use more players like E-Rod on their roster.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings are a team to watch as they are developing faster than people think. Steve Yzerman continues to build a nice young core for the franchise and look for the savvy executive to add in some more talented pieces this summer who have NHL experience. Rodrigues won't break the bank like some of the other free agents so he could be a nice bargain option for Motown.

Calgary Flames

The Flames have two orders of business to handle with Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk, however once those two are locked in, look for the team to find some help on right wing. Calgary currently has $26.9 million in cap space this summer and adding some more fire power up front could go a long way. Rodrigues is looking for some job security so the Flames will need to go as long as three to four years on a deal for this to work.
