NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots for Andre Burakovsky

The Colorado Avalanche are in tough to bring everyone back from the Stanley Cup winning team. This includes the likes of veteran forward Andre Burakovsky, who appears set to hit the open market on July 13.

The 27-year-old forward is a 6-foot-3 winger who can play up and down the lineup and in most situations. He's versatile and was a big part of the Avs Cup run. Last season Burakovsky recorded 61 points in 80 regular season games and chipped in with another eight points in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

While the Avalanche appear to be walking away, look for a number of teams to have interest in signing Burakovsky to a multi-year deal. The main targets will include the Seattle Kraken and New Jersey Devils, meanwhile the likes of the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings will have some degree of interest.

Hockey insider Chris Johnston had this to say recently on the Burakovsky sweepstakes:

All indications are that Burakovsky will be moving on from the Avalanche after winning the second Stanley Cup of his career. Look for him to land with a team that has less offensive depth and can deploy him in a more frontline role. Seattle looks like a potential fit.

The Avs have to pick their spots and can't re-sign all their integral pieces from last season. It appears Burakovsky is likely leaving as the team continues to discuss a contract extension with Valeri Nichushkin.
