NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots for Vincent Trocheck

The Carolina Hurricanes will be in tough to bring back Vincent Trocheck as there's expected to be a ton of interest on the open market. Two-way centers who love to mix it up in the dirty areas of the ice are hard to come by and Trocheck will have a few legitimate offers to consider once free agency opens July 13.

Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins are a team to watch here as Trocheck would fit in nicely for them on the team's second line. The Bruins have done a great job managing their cap and Trocheck will need to accept a little bit less money to sign in Bean Town. A chance to win the Stanley Cup plays a factor here. Last season in Carolina, the 28-year-old center had 51 points in 81 games and would be a nice pivot between Jake DeBrusk and Taylor Hall on the Bruins second line.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The home-town kid would be a nice replacement for Evgeni Malkin and it's believed Penguins management has a ton of interest in Trocheck's game. The Penguins have not held many discussions with Malkin so it appears he's on his way out of town, leaving a huge hole for the team's second line. Adding Trocheck would be a nice compliment to Sidney Crosby and give the Penguins a fresh start on a new era.

Washington Capitals

The Capitals appear to be headed into next season without Niklas Backstrom and they are prioritizing a second line center. If Nazem Kadri prices himself out of range, look for Washington to circle back at Trocheck and try to get pen to paper here. The team is left-handed heavy down the middle so adding a right hander would be an ideal addition for management. The team knows him very well and the Caps are certainly one of the favorites when it comes to getting a deal done with Trocheck and his reps. Photo credit: © Danny Wild-USA TODAY Sports
