NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Linked to Johnny Gaudreau

The Calgary Flames have made their contract offer to Johnny Gaudreau and are sitting, waiting, and wishing he would sign the deal. The team was very confident they would have a deal completed by now, but it appears Gaudreau isn't in too much of a rush and is likely heading to see what the open market has to offer on July 13. Three teams 'Johnny Hockey' will be hearing from include:

Seattle Kraken

Word is Kraken general manager Ron Francis is going after the big fish this summer and will be spending some of the cap space Seattle prioritized during their expansion draft. The Kraken are desperate for offense and adding a 115-point player would certainly help. Gaudreau would give them a face of the franchise and a solid cornerstone to build around. Seattle's second season would be off to a great start by adding this type of talent on the open market.

New Jersey Devils

Rumor has the Devils willing to go as high as $10 million per season for Gaudreau as they have a boat load of cap space, hold the second overall draft pick and are in need of scoring wingers for their young centers. 'Johnny Hockey' makes a ton of sense here and look for the Devils to outbid the rest of the teams. Whether or not Gaudreau sees a fit is the question. Considering he's born in New Jersey and still has some ties there, should make this interesting.

Philadelphia Flyers

Another team desperate for some scoring up front, the Flyers will be in the market for some offensive punch. The team has been linked to Gaudreau as far back as two seasons ago and this could be coming to fruition on July 13 when the market opens. The Flyers would love to move James van Riemsdyk and his $7 million cap hit for next season and flip over the resources into Gaudreau's bank account. Consider the Flyers a dark horse in this race.
