NHL Rumors: Mason Marchment Linked to 2 Teams

Free-agent forward Mason Marchment had himself a career season and now hits the free-agent market as one of the more interesting players available. There's going to be a wide array of interest from a number of teams and two in particular could be in play. Marchment has been linked to the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers.

Marchment appeared in 54 games last season with the Florida Panthers, posting a career-high in goals with 18 and points with 47. It was his best season by a mile and finally was given a serious look in a team's top-nine.

The late bloomer plays the game tough and isn't afraid on the ice. Marchment loves the dirty areas of the ice and showed last season he has more offensive game then you think. His contract is going to be one of the more intriguing ones to watch as last season he only made $800,000. Likely due for a nice raise, it's likely we see a team give Marchment something north of $2 million on the open market. Sounds like that team could be the Oilers and with Evander Kane given permission to speak to other teams, it's all starting to make sense.

Trying times for Marchment as he tries to focus on the next chapter of his career after losing his dad Bryan suddenly last week. We send our best to the family!
