NHL Rumors: Senators Shopping Defenseman

According to Bruce Garrioch, the Senators could end up trading Nikita Zaitsev before the offseason is over.

The Senators have already made a major change to their roster this summer, as they of course acquired Alex DeBrincat. After a move like this, it's clear that they are aiming to be more competitive in 2022-23 and looking to move past their rebuild. Moving Zaitsev and his $4.5 million cap hit would give them even more cap space to make more big additions from here.

In 62 games this past season, Zaitsev scored two goals to go along with 11 points. Overall, he could be a pretty decent addition to a team looking for help on the right side. Time will tell if the Senators can find him a new home before the start of the new campaign.
