Panthers Sign Veteran Defenseman

The Panthers have signed Michael Del Zotto to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, he will carry a $750,000 cap hit.

Del Zotto was recently bought out by the Senators. Del Zotto's time in Ottawa was strange, as he played in just 26 games. In terms of offensive production, he did well, however, as he had three goals and 13 points. With the Belleville Senators, he also had 10 goals and 27 points in 26 games.

Del Zotto can put up decent point totals when called upon, but he does receive criticism for his defensive play. At a minimum, the Panthers have added to their blueline depth with this signing. In 736 career games, the 32-year-old has 63 goals, 199 assists, and 262 points.
