Red Wings Defenseman Heading Overseas

Ryan Murphy is moving on from the Detroit Red Wings. The 2011 first-round pick has signed a one-year contract with Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL.

Murphy returned to North America for the 2021-22 campaign after spending two years in the KHL. Yet, he never received the call-up he had hoped for with the Red Wings. Instead, he played in 53 games for the Griffins, where he had 11 goals and 29 points.

Here's to hoping Murphy can put together a strong campaign back in the KHL.
