Sharks Fire Head Coach In "Dysfunctional" Move

Insiders are wondering why it took until now, but the San Jose Sharks have let go head coach Bob Boughner and his entire staff.

As noted by Greg Wyshynski, it gives Boughner and his staff little time to find a new job, as most of the coaching openings around the league have been filled this late into the offseason.

"Say what you will about the guy as a coach, but to make this decision after eight NHL head-coaching jobs have been filled this offseason is dysfunctional," wrote Wyshynski.

Since taking over midway through the 2019-20 season, the Sharks have a record of 67-85-23 under Boughner and have missed the playoffs every year. Most of the Sharks' offseason has been spent looking for a new general manager. Perhaps they simply forgot about the fact that they wanted to go in another coaching direction?
