Tampa Bay Lightning Sign Defenseman

The Lightning have signed Trevor Carrick to a one-year, two-way contract. He will carry a $750,000 cap hit at the NHL level.

Carrick spent the entirety of this season with the San Diego Gulls of the AHL. He had himself a solid year, as he scored 10 goals and recorded 30 points on the blue line. That is not bad production from a defenseman at all. He also has a lot of overall experience, so that will allow him to be a leader in the Syracuse Crunch's locker room at a minimum.

If Carrick impresses at camp, perhaps he could even be an extra defenseman on the Lightning's NHL roster. Either way, the Bolts have added to their depth with this small signing.
