Blackhawks Re-Sign Young Center

The Chicago Blackhawks were busy on this Friday, not only re-signing defenseman Caleb Jones, but also inking their other restricted free agent, Philipp Kurashev.

The 22-year-old center/winger gets a one-year deal at $750K, and will be an RFA again at the end of the season.

The native of Switzerland was a 4th round pick by Chicago in 2018.

He registered 21 points in 67 games in his 2nd NHL season this past year, in close to 13 minutes of TOI per game.

This gives the Blackhawks 14 forwards under contract for the coming season, but with an interesting twist:

Not one of those 14 is signed beyond the 2023-24 season, as noted by Bleacher Nation Blackhawks. Depending on what happens between now and then, they could have a complete clean slate to work with two seasons from now.
