NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames Linked to 2 Free-Agent Forwards

The Calgary Flames continue their busy offseason as their roster will look much different come training camp. General manager Brad Treliving has done a great job re-tooling on the fly in a tough situation and it sounds like the work is far from done. The Flames have interest in free-agent forwards Evan Rodrigues and Sonny Milano.

These free-agent talks are according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, who reports the Flames are likely signing one of the two forwards. Milano and Rodrigues are two of the most talented players still available on the open market and many are wondering why they aren't signed yet.

Rodrigues spent last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and got off to a blazing start. He cooled off at times and was a touch inconsistent, however still finished the year with 43 points in 82 games. Rodrigues made $1 million against the cap in 2021-22.

Milano spent last season with the Anaheim Ducks and was not given a qualifying offer after the season. He finished the 2021-22 campaign with 34 points in 66 games, and is hoping to catch on in a top-9 role before training camps open in September. Sounds like it could end up being Calgary's at this point.
