NHL Rumors: Coyotes and Senators Discussing Blockbuster Trade

According to multiple sources including Brent Wallace of TSN, the Ottawa Senators and Arizona Coyotes have held trade discussions centered around defenseman Jakob Chychrun.

The Coyotes haven't budged one bit on their steep asking price as they are reportedly looking for two first-round picks, a top-end NHL ready prospect and one roster player, which in this case could be defenseman Nikita Zaitsev.

From the sounds of it, expect to see Chychrun in new uniform before the start of training camp next month. The 24-year-old blueliner has three years left on his contract, paying him $4.6 million annually. Last season in 47 games, the former first-round pick recorded 21 points and had to listen to the ongoing trade rumors throughout the season.

If the Senators land Chychrun, look out as they will be one of the most improved teams on paper this offseason and could surprise in the eastern conference. The Coyotes defenseman has ties to the Ottawa area and would likely welcome the move.
