NHL Rumors: Montreal Canadiens Shopping Forward on Trade Market

The Montreal Canadiens have been busy this summer making major changes to their roster. Sounds like the fun it's over quite yet as according to Jimmy Murphy of Montreal Hockey Now, the Canadiens are trying to move Christian Dvorak.

Montreal added veteran center Sean Monahan in a recent deal with the Calgary Flames, giving them a ton of depth down the middle. Moving Dvorak could give the Habs a chance to add some more talent to their wings or perhaps another defenseman.

Something else to consider as well is the fact Carey Price is likely retiring and the team needs a goalie of the future. Dvorak in a package along with a prospect and draft pick could fetch a talented netminder.

Moving Dvorak alone isn't likely going to fetch much on the open market, so a packaged deal is what to expect here. The 26-year-old center is signed through the 2024-25 season, with his no-trade protection not kicking in until next summer. He recorded 33 points in 56 games last season. The time is now if the Canadiens want to make a change.
