NHL Rumors: New York Islanders to Announce Multiple Signings

New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello does things his way. This includes how and when he announces new contracts, as there's been many rumors flying around Long Island this summer, meanwhile not much has been announced. According to hockey insider Kevin Weekes, that's about to change.

Lamoriello and the Islanders are expected to announce new contracts for restricted free-agent defensemen Alexander Romanov and Noah Dobson. As of now, to no surprise, term and value have not been leaked. Both young defensemen are slated to be cornerstone pieces for the franchise and could potential form a nice pairing next season.

24-year-old forward Kiefer Bellows is also expected to sign his new contract in the coming days. He appeared in a career-high 45 games last season, recording 19 points. The move, however, that is likely holding up everything is free-agent Nazem Kadri, who has been rumored to have agreed to a seven-year deal worth $7 million per season. Kadri and Lamoriello have a history from their days in Toronto and the Islanders are desperate for more offense. The 31-year-old forward is coming off a career season where he collected 87 points in 71 games, as well as 15 points in 16 Stanley Cup Playoff games, on route to hoisting the Stanley Cup.

As Weekes mentioned above, expect to see some news coming this week from Long Island as Uncle Lou is finally ready to get some pen to paper.
