San Jose Sharks Sign Defenseman to 4-Year Extension

The San Jose Sharks have re-upped with 23-year-old defenseman Mario Ferraro on a 4-year extension.

Terms of the deal have not been officially announced.

As noted by @CF_DepthCharts, with 180 games played over the past three seasons, Ferraro ranks 3rd in games by all defenseman from the 2017 Draft.

In 63 games last season, he registered 14 points, with 23:00 minutes of TOI per game, just out of the Top 20 in the league. He also finished 14th in the NHL with 151 blocked shots.

New Sharks GM Mike Grier said Ferraro's work against the opposition's top-level talent is invaluable. "Mario has shown that he is a dynamic and reliable defenseman for our club, skating top-level minutes against the best competition every night and delivering solid results. His energy and work ethic are the reason why he has achieved so much in his early part of his career, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow and elevate his role on the team."
