2 Toronto Maple Leafs Defensemen Leave Game Injured

During Wednesday's preseason game against the Montreal Canadiens, both Jordie Benn and Carl Dahlstrom left the game early for the Toronto Maple Leafs due to undisclosed injuries.

Benn inked a deal with the Maple Leafs during the offseason and is aiming to make their NHL roster as a depth defenseman. Getting injured will, unfortunately, not help his chances and this is especially so if it takes him out of the lineup for the rest of the preseason. In 39 games this past season with the Minnesota Wild, the 35-year-old had a goal and seven assists.

Dahlstrom, on the other hand, is a solid extra defenseman who is looking to make a good impression on the Leafs, too. He played in three NHL games last season, where he had two assists and a plus-2 rating. The 6-foot-4 defenseman is an important part of the Toronto Marlies' d-group, so if he misses time, it will not be good for the AHL squad.
