Calgary Flames Officially Sign Forward

Earlier this week, it was reported by Eric Francis that the Calgary Flames were finalizing a deal to bring back Brett Ritchie. Now, that has officially come to fruition, as Ritchie has in fact signed a one-year, $750,000 contract with the team.

Ritchie's new deal is a one-way contract at a league-minimum cap hit. Therefore, this is a deal that Calgary can afford with ease, and the 29-year-old will continue to be a serviceable depth forward for them in 2022-23.

Ritchie appeared in 41 games for the Flames this past season, where he had three goals and an assist. He also scored two goals in seven games for the team during the postseason. Although he is not a player who dominates offensively, the 6-foot-4 winger brings upon an immense amount of physicality, and that's never a bad thing to have in the lineup. Overall, this is a good little depth signing for the Flames.
