Vegas Golden Knights Defenseman Skipping Training Camp

According to Jesse Granger, Nicolas Hague is not expected to attend the beginning of training camp for the Vegas Golden Knights.

Still unsigned Nic Hague is not expected to be on the ice for the start of Golden Knights camp.

“We’re hopeful that something will get done, but unfortunately it’s not at the point where we’re confident that he’s going to be there.”

This isn't the most surprising of developments, as it had been reported that the 6-foot-6 defenseman would train at home if he and the team did not agree to a new contract. At the time of this writing, the Kitchener native remains a restricted free agent (RFA), and there hasn't been any progress in contract talks.

The Golden Knights need to find a way to get Hague signed. The 23-year-old has the size and skill to be a strong top-four defenseman in the NHL, and Vegas isn't known for having a young roster.

In 52 games this past season, Hague scored four goals and had 14 points.
