Chicago Blackhawks Defenseman to Miss Time

The Chicago Blackhawks have another injury on their blue line, as Ian Mitchell will be out for the next six weeks due to a wrist injury.

This is certainly rough news for Mitchell, The 23-year-old was in a prime position to make the Blackhawks' top six for the start of the season. Jake McCabe is out long-term, so there was a spot available for him to fight for, but missing training camp now lowers his chances immensely.

Mitchell is a young defenseman who should get some time with the Blackhawks this season, but there's no denying that this injury is bad news for the St. Albert native. In 47 career NHL games, he has three goals, five assists, and a minus-13 rating. Here's to hoping that he has the chance to build on these totals as soon as he is cleared to play again.
