New York Rangers Sign Defenseman to PTO

The New York Rangers have signed Matt Bartkowski to a professional tryout contract.

Bartkowski spent the 2021-22 season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he was one of their alternate captains. The veteran defenseman had four goals and 16 points in 72 games with the AHL squad. He, unfortunately, did not see any time with Pittsburgh.

Bartkowski will not be competing for a spot in the Rangers' top six, as their defensive depth is quite solid. However, if he impresses at camp, he certainly has the potential to land a two-way contract and be a serviceable call-up option when injuries arise.

In 256 career NHL games over 10 NHL seasons, Bartkowski has eight goals, 40 assists, and 48 points.
