Philadelphia Flyers Provide Update on Sean Couturier

According to Philadelphia Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher, Sean Couturier's current injury will not require surgery. As a result of this, he is still deemed as being week-to-week.

Surgery would have changed Couturier's estimated recovery time, as it would have definitely kept him out of the lineup for a few months at least. Instead, the 29-year-old will remain as being week-to-week. That isn't amazing news, but it certainly would have been worse had he been forced to get surgery.

Still, things are looking pretty awful for the Flyers to start the season. Besides Couturier missing the beginning of the season, Fletcher has already noted that Ryan Ellis is unlikely to play this season and could have a career-ending injury.

Here's to hoping that Couturier can have a speedy recovery, as he is their top center and leader. In 29 games this past season, he had six goals to go along with 17 points.
