Pittsburgh Penguins Rumors: Extension Talks Begin With Goalie

While speaking with reporters, Pittsburgh Penguins GM Ron Hextall said that the team has begun extension talks with Tristan Jarry and that they are completely sold on him being their future in net.

Jarry is entering the final year of his contract and will be eligible for unrestricted free agency next summer. The Penguins are working hard to stop this from happening, but to extend Jarry, they will need to give him a notable raise from his $3.5 million cap hit.

Jarry was excellent for the Penguins this past season, as he had a 34-18-6 record to go along with a 2.42 GAA and .919 SV%. Another season like this will easily be enough for him to make at least $5 million per season on his next contract. We will need to see if Hextall can get the 27-year-old locked up from here.
