Blackhawks Send Defenseman Down to AHL

The Chicago Blackhawks have made a roster move, as they have sent Alex Vlasic back down to the AHL.

Vlasic made the Blackhawks' NHL roster out of camp, but he was also a healthy scratch in each game that Chicago has played this season. Thus, instead of having him sit as an extra defenseman at the NHL level, he will now be receiving big minutes with the Rockford IceHogs. This is probably the best thing for the 21-year-old at this time.

After signing with the Blackhawks last season, Vlasic appeared in 15 games with the NHL squad, where he had a goal and an assist. The 6-foot-6 d-man is viewed as possessing a good amount of potential, so we will have to see how he performs down in Rockford from here.
