Blue Jackets Call Up Goalie

After being activated off injured reserve on Saturday, the Columbus Blue Jackets assigned Joonas Korpisalo to the Cleveland Monsters on a conditioning stint. Now, he is immediately being called right back up to the NHL squad.

With this development, the Blue Jackets will be running with three goalies on their NHL roster. It ultimately makes sense for them to, though, as both Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov have struggled so far this season. Columbus will be hoping that Korpisalo can now provide a little more stability to their goaltending from here.

Yet, Korpisalo is coming off of a pretty bad 2021-22 season. In 22 contests, he had a 7-11-0 record, .877 SV%, and 4.15 GAA. We will have to wait and see if he can get back to his old form from here. If not, he may end up being the odd man out for Columbus.
