Canucks Rumors: Vancouver Looking to Make Another Trade

The Vancouver Canucks pulled off a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks as they shipped out a second-round pick in 2024 and Jason Dickson in exchange for defenseman Riley Stillman. The move saved the Canucks some money against the cap and apparently, they are not done making moves.

The Canucks are looking to add another defenseman as Travis Dermott has a concussion and is headed for more testing. It's likely he'll miss weeks, leaving Vancouver's depth tested early on this season. The team has been trying all summer to add another significant talent to their back end but to this point have only completed the one deal for Stillman.

At this point they have not been linked to Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun, however that can change rather quickly. The Ottawa Senators remain the heavy favorites in the Chychrun sweepstakes. The Pittsburgh Penguins are shopping Pierre-Olivier Joseph, someone the Canucks brass know very well from their time in Pittsburgh, but to this point it doesn't appear they have interest in the fringe NHL talent. Look for the Canucks to be actively in trade discussions to start the season and if their blueline gets exposed early on this season, changes will be on the horizon.
