Carolina Hurricanes Place 5 Players on Waivers

The Carolina Hurricanes have made a series of cuts, as Ryan Dzingel, Maxime Lajoie, Lane Pederson, Stelios Mattheos, and Mackenzie MacEachern have been placed on waivers.

Out of the bunch, Dzingel stands out the most. After having three-straight seasons with at least 40 points ending in 2018-19, he has had trouble replicating that kind of offense. This past season was an all-time low for him, however, as he had just eight points in 32 games split between the Arizona Coyotes and San Jose Sharks. Perhaps a team could take a chance on him if they feel he can bounce back.

Lajoie suited up in five games for the Hurricanes last season, where he was held without a point. With the Chicago Wolves, he scored four goals and had 33 points in 60 games. At 24 years old, there could be some interest in him.

As for Pederson, Mattheos, and MacEachern, it isn't too surprising to see them placed on waivers. Assuming they clear waivers, they should be solid AHL contributors in 2022-23.
