Devils Already Feeling The Pressure Of Losing

The New Jersey Devils kicked off their season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers, a team not many had hope for heading into this season. The Devils lost by a score of 5-2 while dominating in the faceoff circle and in shots. They had hope heading into this season with a few strong additions and there is now a fear of the same result as last season and added pressure.

Mile Wood was the one to speak out about the issue already saying, "I’m just sick and tired of being on a bad team, that’s the thing that stinks the most. Tomorrow is a must-win game for us and it’s my job to get the guys going."
Wood has been a regular on the Devils since the 2016-17 season. In his six seasons with the team, they have qualified for the playoffs once, losing in five games. He wasn't able to have a positive impact on the team last season because of an injury that kept him out for all but three games. This season he's playing in the bottom-six of a strong forward group but the Devils can expect around 15 goals and 30 points from him this season.

The Devils' matchup today comes against the Detroit Red Wings who look much improved and on a mission. We'll see if the Devils can get off to a better start to the season in 2022-23 and stay in contention for a playoff spot.
