NHL Rumors: Canadiens Linked to Penguins Defenseman

After finishing with the worst record in 2021-22, the Montreal Canadiens have started this season fairly well, as they sport a 2-2-0 record. Yet, if they want to keep this momentum up, they should look to make an early-season trade to help bolster their roster. One player who certainly could make sense for them is Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph.

The Canadiens were one of the teams who expressed interest in Joseph last season, so it's clear that GM Kent Hughes isn't against the prospect of adding him to the team. With that, the Penguins are currently shopping the Laval native, so there absolutely could be a match here. This is especially true when noting that Montreal's left side leaves more to be desired.

Joseph is currently off to a good start with the Penguins this season, as he has two assists in three games. Overall, the 23-year-old is viewed as having a good amount of potential, so why shouldn't a rebuilding team like Montreal give him a chance? Let's see if a move comes to fruition from here.
