NHL Rumors: Darkhorse Team In Play For Chychrun

As soon as Jakob Chyhcrun is back healthy, trade talks will pick up significantly again. Teams are waiting so that they are trading for a healthy defenceman and not losing out on a deal immediately. There are a number of teams who have shown interest and who could be major players in the Chychrun sweepstakes, but the Los Angeles Kings are a dark horse to land the defenceman.

The Coyotes are asking for the equivalent of two first-round picks, and the Kings may have the strongest prospect pool in the NHL. Their drafting and developing has been unmatched and there isn't even enough room on their team currently for all their talent.

Whether it's a forward or defenceman, the Kings can afford to send a prospect and likely a first round pick in order to add Chychrun if they tried. They also have the cap space to pull off the move without having to clear cap space.

Take you pick whether it's a player off of the roster like Gabe Vilardi, Athur Kaliyev, or Sean Durzi, or the Coyotes are more interested in a prospect in the Kings' system like Rasmus Kupari, Tobias Bjornfot, or Helge Grans. There are others that could be of interest that weren't first round picks but have talent and potential, but the Kings also have all of their first round picks and more in the coming drafts.

Watch for the Kings to try and upgrade their defence as they will want to add someone more effective than Sean Walker and Alex Edler to their group for the next couple of seasons.
