NHL Rumors: Devils Forward to be Traded

Although the New Jersey Devils are off to a solid start in 2022-23, they are not expected to be a playoff team because of the deep Eastern Conference. Therefore, if they fall out of the playoff race like most people envision, they have several pending UFAs who will become prime rental candidates. Erik Haula is one of them.

After an impressive 44-point campaign in 78 games with the Boston Bruins last season, the 31-year-old was surprisingly traded to the Devils last offseason. Things with New Jersey have been off to a rough start for him, however, as he has zero points and a minus-2 rating. Yet, there's reason to believe that he will heat up as the year continues, and that would only help raise his trade value.

Haula is no stranger to being traded, as he has been dealt three separate times since 2019. Yet, given the fact that he is a solid middle-six forward who can play both center and the wing, there will be interest in him on the trade market. Expect New Jersey to trade him by the deadline if they are not a guaranteed playoff team by then.
