NHL Rumors: Red Wings to Trade Winger

The Detroit Red Wings are one of the most fun teams to watch in the NHL. The rebuilding squad is clearly on the rise, as they made several signings this offseason and many of their young players have taken that next step. However, this has resulted in Detroit having a surplus of forwards. When players like Tyler Bertuzzi and Robby Fabbri return from injuries, this may lead them to move out a forward because of it, and Adam Erne is a prime candidate.

Erne is in the final season of his contract and is a pending UFA. At the time of this writing, he is playing fourth-line minutes, so he runs the risk of being scratched often once Detroit is fully healthy. With that, Detroit also has a surplus of left wingers, so that only heightens his chances of being dealt.

Erne is coming off of a season that saw him record 19 points in 79 games. It was a down year for him, but he also has a decent three points in six games. If he continues to produce well, expect Detroit to get a decent return for him by the deadline.
