Pittsburgh Penguins Place 5 Players on Waivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed Drake Caggiula, Alex Nylander, Dustin Tokarski, Radim Zohorna, and Xavier Ouellet on waivers.

Caggiula is a surprising name to see on waivers, as head coach Mike Sullivan made it known that he was impressed with the 28-year-old's performance at camp. Yet, it wasn't enough for him to earn an NHL roster spot for the start of the season.

Nylander was acquired by the Penguins last season, and he has yet to make his regular-season debut for the club. That is set to stay true for the start of the regular season given this development. He does have a 26-point campaign on his resume, so maybe he could get a call-up at some point during the year.

As for Tokarski, Zohorna, and Ouellet, it seemed more likely than not that they would hit waivers. Although this is the case, they could get some interest from clubs in need of some depth.
