Red Wings Lose Key Offensive Player for 4-6 Weeks

Well, that's not the start the Detroit Red Wings and him were looking for.

Tyler Bertuzzi will be sidelined for the next four-to-six weeks.
Bertuzzi left Saturday's game against the New Jersey Devils with an undisclosed injury and did not return. It appeared he suffered the injury when he blocked a shot with his right hand at the beginning of the second period. He had an assist and 8:14 of ice time before exiting the game.

The twenty-seven-year-old wasn't on the ice for Detroit's morning skate and will be out for a while now. The Red Wings are left with a sizable hole in the team's forward core.

Bertuzzi posted a career-high 30 goals and 32 assists in just 68 games last season and appeared primed to take yet another big step forward offensively this season. That will be put on hold now for the next four-to-six weeks.

The 2-0 Red Wings take on the 1-2 Los Angeles Kings on Monday night in Detroit.
