Tampa Bay Lightning Place 2 Players on Waivers

The Tampa Bay Lightning have placed Alex Barre-Boulet and Gemel Smith on waivers.

The Lightning lost Barre-Boulet through waivers last season to the Seattle Kraken but then immediately reclaimed him a few weeks after. In 16 games split between the two clubs last season, he produced fairly well, as he had six points. It was also another very good season for him with the Syracuse Crunch, as he had 16 goals and 63 points in 58 games. Given his fairly young age (25) and strong scoring ability in the AHL, it seems possible that another team could claim him off waivers.

The Lightning also lost Smith through waivers last season to the Detroit Red Wings but then brought him back the same way later on in the year. He did not appear in an NHL game for Tampa last season but did play three games with Detroit, where he had an assist. Smith's strong physical play could get some interest around the league.
