Toronto Maple Leafs Captain Expected to Play Season Opener

While speaking with reporters, Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares said that "tomorrow looks good" and that he is "excited" that he "can be there right off the get-go" regarding his availability for the club's season opener against the Montreal Canadiens.

Tavares was originally expected to miss the beginning of the season due to an oblique strain, but it is clear that he is recovering ahead of schedule. Now, the Leafs are going to have their captain back for the first game of the year, and that is great news for them.

Tavares is still among the Maple Leafs' best players, and his 76 points in 79 games last season show that effectively. We will have to wait and see what he does for an encore in 2022-23 from here.
