2 More Columbus Blue Jackets Injured

Can the Columbus Blue Jackets just have nice things? Apparently not. The team has announced that Elvis Merzlikins will be out for the next one-to-two weeks because of a lower-body injury. Meanwhile, Jake Bean has been placed on injured reserve and will be out indefinitely due to a shoulder injury.

It has been a very rough start to the season for Merzlikins, and this latest injury only heightens that. In nine appearances on the campaign thus far, he has a 2-5-0 record to go along with an .864 SV% and 4.74 GAA. That is far below what we expect to see from the 28-year-old, and now he will have to miss time before having any chance of bouncing back.

Bean, on the other hand, has contributed fairly well offensively from the point this season, as he has a goal and six points in 14 games. His absence from their blue line will be noticeable. Here's to hoping that his injury ends up being a short-term one, but there's no question that his "out indefinitely" status is quite concerning.
