Chicago Blackhawks Call Up Defenseman

After sending down Alec Regula to the American Hockey League on Thursday (Nov. 17), the Chicago Blackhawks have now called up fellow defenseman Ian Mitchell to their NHL roster.

Mitchell started this season injured but recently started getting into action with the Rockford IceHogs. With the AHL squad, he certainly made a big impact, as he had two goals and five points in just three games. As a result, he now has earned this call-up and will be aiming to translate some of that offensive success over to the sport's most competitive league.

With the Blackhawks rebuilding, young players like Mitchell are in a prime position to land full-time NHL roles. Let's see if the St. Albert native takes advantage of this.
