Kings Rumors: LA Receiving Trade Calls on Defenseman

The Los Angeles Kings are 10-6-1 to start the season and are off to an impressive start. The Kings sit second in the Pacific Division and are a team expected to be active on the trade market this season. Turns out those trade calls have already been happening as rumor has the Kings have been asked about one of their defensemen, more than once.

Sean Walker has been a trade target for a number of teams including the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens. Walker has found himself pushed down the depth chart by Sean Durzi and rookie Brandt Clarke.

The Kings have $5.1 million in cap space at the moment, meanwhile Walker holds a $2.6 million cap hit this season and next. Certainly, an affordable figure for many teams.

In 13 games this season, the 28-year-old Walker hasn't scored and only has one assist. He's played an average of 14:22 per game and has seen some time on the team's second penalty-kill unit. The production this year hasn't been great, but the early season struggles should be overlooked. Walker is coming off major knee surgery and has shown in the past he's capable of contributing on both sides of the puck.
