NHL Rumors: Avalanche & Canadiens Emerging as Trade Partners

According to Pierre LeBrun, Montreal Canadiens center Sean Monahan could be a player who the Colorado Avalanche pursue before the trade deadline passes.

Monahan was acquired by the Canadiens in a cap dump trade with the Calgary Flames this past offseason. So far, he has been a good fit with Montreal, as he has eight points in 15 games thus far. This is encouraging to see from the Brampton native, as he is coming off of a rough 23-point campaign in 65 games last year. If he keeps producing well, he could definitely make sense for the Avalanche.

The Avalanche certainly could use another center in their lineup after the loss of Nazem Kadri. Monahan could be a solid, short-term option, and this is especially true if he can find his old form as the year progresses. Nevertheless, let's keep an eye on this as we get closer to the deadline.
