NHL Rumors: Flames Considering Extending Winger

According to Anthony Di Marco, Calgary Flames management is discussing the possibility of signing Milan Lucic to an extension.

Although Lucic has not really lived up to his seven-year, $42 million contract, there's no question that he has emerged as an effective bottom-six winger for the Flames. His scoring touch may have faded with age, but there's no question that his immense physicality and toughness still make him an effective player in Calgary. At a far cheaper cap hit, this is an avenue that is definitely worth exploring.

Lucic is having a decent start to the year, as he has three assists and a plus-1 rating in eight games thus far. We will have to wait and see if the Flames decide to send an extension offer to the 6-foot-3 winger from here.
