NHL Rumors: Ottawa Senators Forward Becoming Trade Candidate

After an offseason of spending, the Ottawa Senators came into the 2022-23 season with the expectation of competing for a playoff spot. However, things have been disastrous for them, as they have a 6-10-1 record and have won just two out of their last ten games. As a result, we will see them trade away some of their pending UFAs at the deadline, and Austin Watson will likely be one of them.

Watson could definitely get some interest on the trade block. The 30-year-old winger's very gritty style of play could make him a solid addition to a contender's fourth line or depth. In 17 games this season, he has three points to go along with 46 hits and 22 penalty minutes.

Watson also showed last season that he does have the potential to chip in offensively, too. In 67 games on the year, he had 10 goals to go along with 16 points. If he can score like that again, that and his physicality will surely lead to him finding a new home at the deadline.
