NHL Rumors: St Louis Blues Contemplating Major Changes

The St Louis Blues have been one of the biggest surprises so far this NHL season and it's for all the wrong reasons. The Blues lost 5-1 to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night, marking their eighth loss in a row. The team sits at the bottom of the Central division and are tied for dead last in the entire NHL.

Rumor has Blues management is having internal discussions about what's transpiring and the direction the team wants to go moving forward this season. There won't be a full rebuild, but rumor has a re-tool is on the way.

Trade candidates include captain Ryan O'Reilly, winger Vladimir Tarasenko, defenseman Torey Krug. General manager Doug Armstrong admitted it wasn't likely he'd be signing any of his pending free agents to contract extensions in season this year, and flipping them for assets appears to be the direction the team is headed considering how bad the results have been.

At this point, head coach Craig Berube's job appears safe, however with every loss the ice is melting thinner. The Blues are a team to watch and could certainly shake up the trade market should they continue to loss and make some major changes before the Christmas break.
